OPTIONAL BIKE RIDES & TOURS WITH THE DC CYCLING CONCIERGE

The League is pleased to partner with Jeff Miller, the DC Cycling Concierge, to offer a variety of bike tours and rides throughout the National Bike Summit. These are unique opportunities offered only to Summit attendees, offered at various times throughout the Summit outside of the conference program. Space is limited on each ride, and pre-registration is required  sign up today as part of your Summit registration

Bikes are not included, but bike share is available at the ride start location. If you do not wish to ride bike share, feel free to contact the DC Cycling Concierge (jeff@DCCyclingConcierge.com) about options.

Please book the free orientation ride and paid tours on your Summit registration page. If you are interested in doing one of the early morning fitness rides listed below, please contact Jeff Miller directly at jeff@DCCyclingConcierge.com by March 7th. 

Full refunds will be given to pre-registered riders if the weather is snow, icy, or thunder & lightening or if the ride is cancelled for any reason. 

Participants must bring or arrange their own bike and helmet. Some bikeshare bikes will be available but not guaranteed. Helmet use is required.

All rides and tours will start and finish at the Summit conference hotel, Hyatt Regency Crystal City (2799 Richmond Hwy, Arlington, VA 22202).

Saturday, March 14  

FULL - WAITLIST ONLY -- 4:00 PM Afternoon Orientation Ride // all bike types // Free // 12 miles // 3 hours // 10 -12mph avg
Ride from the Hyatt Regency conference site to the Capitol Building, House & Senate buildings, noting Metro stations along the way, plus a few sites along the way from Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, and the National Mall. Space is limited and pre-registration is required through the Summit Registration form.

2 spots left! 7:30 PM “DC’s Best Sights at Night” Tour // $30 // 12 miles // ~3 hrs // casual pace w/ multiple stops enjoying DC’s iconic monuments and memorials brilliantly illuminated against a dark sky.  Washington DC has some of the most iconic sights in the country and the world. Sure, you may have seen the National Mall and major memorials before, but biking around the city at night brings a magical perspective to the Nation’s Capital and the insights, symbolism, and history shared by the DC Cycling Concierge makes it an experience you’ll treasure for years.  Join Jeff Miller, the DC Cycling Concierge, for a fun and memorable casual / relaxed pace ~ 3-hour bicycle tour.  Bikes are not included, but all types of bikes (including bikeshare) and bicyclists are welcome. We will be riding some city streets, but the route will be mostly on streets with bike lanes and bike trails. Early Morning Fitness Ride – RSVP by March 7th with Jeff@DCCyclingConcierge.com (FREE) 

FULL - WAITLIST ONLY --  8:30 PM “Burning of Washington & Sights at Night” Casual Ride // $30 // 12 miles // 2+ hrs // casual pace w/ multiple stops exploring the amazing stories of the British invasion of DC during the War of 1812 with stops at the Capitol, White House and as many other scenic sights lit up at night we can fit in.  Just 24 years old as the new nation’s federal capital, Washington City (as DC was known then) was nearly wiped out of existence by the British Navy invasion over land on August 24, 1814.  Nearly every federal building was burned including the White House and the Capitol Building, but something amazing happened that spared DC. Join this ride as we roll down the avenues the Brits set ablaze and hear some of the fascinating stories, acts of heroism, and amazing natural circumstances that kept our beautiful city from total destruction.  Join Jeff Miller, the DC Cycling Concierge, for a memorable and casual / relaxed pace 2 ½ to 3 hour bicycle ride as we flash back over 200 years for a remarkable historical perspective of our city. The 12-mile ride includes several stops.  Bikes are not included, but all types of bikes (including bikeshare) and bicyclists are welcome. FULL - WAITLIST ONLY --   7:30 PM – "Women Rule! 100th Anniversary of 19th Amendment, Scandal, Civil Rights & Suffrage" Ride // $30 // 12-13 miles // ~3 hrs // casual pace w/ quick stops highlighting some significant sites of our nation's herstory.  DC was one of the primary battlegrounds for the women’s suffrage movement and there are also many incredible women – artists, journalists, entrepreneurs, activists and politicians – who have left their mark on the city and county. Join Jeff Miller, the DC Cycling Concierge, and a women’s history expert, author, and fellow guide for this insightful casual / relaxed pace 3-hour bicycle tour. Bikes are not included, but all types of bikes (including bikeshare) and bicyclists are welcome.
